Commissioner’s Cup
Tasked with rebranding the WNBAs Commissioner's Cup for this upcoming season. We wanted to give the tournament a unique and one and only kind of branding. The branding that'll leave an impact on social media and can pave the way for a potential ongoing brand identity. Taking into account WNBAs Even More slogan, the essence of women's basketball and the importance of the commissioner's cup we developed a versatile well-equipped design system to enhance the WNBAs message
COLOR:
When designing for color, we fused both the WNBA signature orange and the Commissioner's Cup Rose Gold
DISPLAY BAR:
One of the challenges early on when designing, was allowing the legal and tournament/organization to be visible while also not crowding the graphic space. It was important that viewers get familiarized with the CC logo and visual identity. Our solution was to play on the 2 color block system and create a separate graphic element that can house all the tournament and organization information.
With Tournament + legal info:Understanding that a ton of info needs to go in many social media posts due to sports graphics being a mix of visual + informational design, we decided to attach the legal information to the display bar, where it can either sit top,bottom, left or right depending on the other various information displayed.
TYPOGRAPHY:
Along with creating a design system for their CC, a campaign was created that exists within the design system. Using the WNBA font, we brought excitement, emotion and life through text that helps wrap around what this tournament has to offer for it's viewers both current and potential
COMPILATION OF SOCIAL MEDIA EXAMPLE GRAPHICS:An assortment of graphics that showcase all the elements designed to create the brand identity.
EXPANSION:In order to further enhance how unique the design system is and also to help further engage existing fans, or fans from specific teams, we implemented each team's brand identity into the current design system. Creating for rich bold colors, vivid team spirit and a great cohesion between team and organization branding.
